Working With Maya’s Native Quick Rig Tool

The Quick Rig Tool is a new feature that lets you rig characters by automatically analyzing the mesh to build skeletons and controlrigs. This tool can be found in Maya 2016 Ext 2 as well as 2017, so don’t worry if your version isn’t up-to date!

Maya’s Quick Rig Tool has a one-click method for creating character rigs that is based on HIK (Human IK). The tool also allows you to execute in “step by step mode,” so if all your looking at doing is just setting up the skeleton and controls, then this will be perfect.

In this video, Autodesk’s Steven Roselle teaches you how to rig characters with the auto-rigging tool in Maya. It’s a great little process that saves time and energy while still giving an accurate simulation of your character!
